In May of 2012, the members of the Northampton Camera Club embarked on a year-long snapshot of the city of Northampton—its people and its places.  The exhibition consists of 37 images ranging in scale and photographic styles.  The Camera Club will donate these images to Historic Northampton’s archive.

The exhibition will also feature a selection of historical photographs from the museum’s collection illustrating a variety of photographic processes.  These will include daguerreotypes, tintypes, stereographic cards, ambrotypes, and more.  In addition, photographic equipment from earlier periods will be on display.

Founded in 2010, the Northampton Camera Club is a group of local photographers sharing their interest in photography.  The members meet monthly to view and critique each other's work, host speakers, take photo walks, and explore photographic themes and assignments.  The NCC had its first group show in 2011 at the Quarry Café, River Valley Market.  The members are Ellen Finkelstein, Carrie L. Hale, Mark Hudgik, M.J. Maccardini, and Peter Norman.

At the December 13th opening reception, Joe Blumenthal from Downtown Sounds and his quartet Mando Paradiso will perform a mostly Italian repertoire (instrumentals) from 5:30 to 6 and 6:30 to 7. The ensemble consists of an upright bass, two mandolins and a guitar.
