The inquisition on Marcus Lyon. Written record consisting of statements by Moses K. Bartlett, John Brewer, John Morgan, Pliny Bliss, Elisha Shepard, Griffin Baily, John Powers, Robert Stanton, Laertes Fuller, John Bliss, and an unidentified witness concerning the events surrounding the murder of Marcus Lyon, including the murder scene. November 1805.

Prosecuting Attorney John Hooker's testimony that Josiah Bardwell was the principal man in pursuit of Marcus Lyon's murders, and that Jeremy Bliss played a minor part in the apprehension of Daley & Halligan. This testimony was confirmed by Massachusetts Supreme Court Justices Theodore Sedgwick and Samuel Sewell. April 25, 1806.

Primary Sources

Exerpts from a discourse (transcript) occasioned by the murder of Marcus Lyon and delivered by Ezra Witter, A.M., on November 17, 1805 in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Witter was the Congregationalist Minister of North Wilbraham parish whose territory included the murder scene.

"A Brief Account (transcript) of the Murder of Marcus Lyon also the Particulars of the Detection of Murderers & the Last Dying Words of the Unhappy Sufferers & and Elergy on the Execution Composed Soon After." This was written in June or July 1806 by Ezekiel Terry who was a printer/preacher in Wilbraham.  He lived on the Palmer town line.
